Corporate history

KAMA has been putting its stamp on the future for over 100 years.

Future-compatible solutions have a long tradition at KAMA. From the patented Remus bending process, which revolutionised the entire cardboard-processing industry in the late 19th century and the world’s first automatic flat-bed die cutter in the 1930s to the versatility of today’s multi-functional KAMA die cutters and folder gluers.

Major milestones:

Founding 1894: as Sächsische Cartonnagen-Maschinen-Actiengesellschaft SCAMAG in Dresden
World Premiere 1936: KAMA develops the world’s first automatic flat-bed die cutter.
Awards 1972: for the convincingly designed folder-gluer FKM 100, to name just one.
Re-establishment 1994: in the form of a GmbH by the partners Marcus Tralau, Jörg Schulze and Dietmar Schubert.
New Model The versatile KAMA TS 74 automatic die cutter marks the beginning of a new product range in 1999.
New Facilities 2000: KAMA moves to the newly-erected production and administration building in the Reick district of Dresden.
Hot Foil Stamping KAMA develops a hot foil stamping system in 2002.
Extensions 2002: a second production hall is built, and the total production area increases to 4,000 m².
Hot Cut Module KAMA brings the hot cut option for plastics for the versatile KAMA TS 74 die cutters.
Hologram KAMA develops a system for the application of registered hologram with the ProCut 74.
New Generation 2006: KAMA launches the finishing die cutter ProCut 74 with new design, new options and new performance. The ProCut 105 is following the year after.
World Premiere In 2008 KAMA presents the world’s first automatic flat-bed die cutter for format 580x400 mm sheet-size, the versatile ProCut 58.
Innovative Software KAMA launches in 2010 the innovative “Job Planner” software for quick and optimized set-up of the ProFold 74 folder gluer.
New Format ProCut 76 Foil die cutter with format 760x600 cm is launched, from 2016 on upgraded with servo motors.
AutoRegister Ideal for converting digital prints: KAMA ProCut 76 Foil and ProCut 58 die cutters with AutoRegister do all finishing at highest register accuracy.
Inline Stripping without tools KAMA brings to market the unique SBU for inline Stripping, Blanking and De-nesting with no need for tools.
First Folder gluer for short runs 2015 KAMA launches the world's first folder gluer for short run folding cartons: Set-up at record speeds on the fully automatic KAMA FF 52i makes short runs and digitally printed folding cartons profitable.
Servo class At drupa 2016 KAMA presents the "Generation Servo" of the ProCut 76 series with new performance.
Workflow 4.0 For machine networking and process optimizing the company designs the KAMA Job Manager software.
